The Fort Dodge City Council will meet tomorrow evening for the next round of budgeting workshops. Next up on the scope is Fort Dodge Regional Airport, public areas and cemeteries, and Blanden Art Museum.

The Fort Dodge Regional Airport is projecting nearly $860,000 in spending for the fiscal year 2027 general operating budget. This covers daily operations, including the wages of 5 employees. Of that amount, About 70% of revenue will come from airport generated revenue, while 30% comes from property taxes. The Airports budget presentation hints at a new website coming soon, as well as some future public engagement events and activities.
Public areas is estimating just over $265,000 in spending this coming year. The public areas budget is mainly for upkeep of Fort Dodge’s parks and streetscape. Public areas is showing just over $58,300 in revenue, with the imbalance coming from property taxes.
The Blanden Art Museum general operating fund is estimating just over $256,000 is expenditures for the upcoming fiscal year. The city generally provides the funding for staff, major equipment, and general operations, whereas The Blanden Charitable Foundation supports exhibits, programming, collections and events. The slide deck included in the upcoming budget presentation shows that The Blanden Charitable Foundation provided $150,796 in funding in fiscal year 2025. Revenue from memberships goes to the foundation.
The budget workshops are scheduled to begin at 5:00PM in the Council Chambers in the Fort Dodge Municipal Building.
