The Fort Dodge City Council will consider a formal warning and evaluation period at their next meeting Monday evening in regards to a local bar.

The 4th Street Depot Bar and Grill’s liquor license is up for renewal, but the action will not come without some extra scrutiny. Normally, renewals are part of the consent agenda, which is a sweep of actions bundled into one vote without discussion. This renewal received its own spot on the agenda.
A memo accompanying the renewal lays out some recent problems attributed with the establishment, along with some recommendations from city staff for the council to consider going forward.
The report indicates the property generated approximately 107 calls for service in the last year, including fights, disturbances, intoxicated individuals and reports of gunshots.
Ultimately, city staff has recommended approval of the liquor license with a formal warning and six month evaluation period. During the evaluation period, staff will monitor the calls for service with an expectation that disruptive activities and related calls for service will be significantly reduced.
The memo goes on to say that if conditions have not improved to an acceptable level after the 6 month period, staff will return to the Council to pursue a public safety nuisance action, which could result in court-ordered remedies, including a reduction of operating hours.
