A few weeks ago, the Iowa Department of Public Safety rolled their 2025 data into the Iowa Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) System.

The Iowa UCR System publishes data annually at a minimum. In the future, the Department aims to publish data quarterly to the system.
In 2024, the crime rate for Webster County was 6746.8 offenses per 100,000 people. That number was down about 11% in 2025, coming in at 5997.1 offences per 100,000.
Webster County holds 4th in Iowa for crime offenses per 100,000 people, behind Scott (Davenport area), Woodbury (Sioux City area), and Cerro Gordo (Mason City area) Counties.
Wapello County (Ottumwa area) went from number 1 in Iowa in 2024 to number 5 in Iowa in 2025. This represents an over 19% drop in offenses reported.
In Iowa, Fort Dodge is often compared to Mason City and Ottumwa, as they are similar in population size.
