A train collided with a vehicle in Gowrie Sunday afternoon at approximately 3:21PM.
According to a crash report from the Iowa State Patrol, a 2016 Hyundai Sonata driven by Dirk Janssen of Colo Iowa was Eastbound on Lincoln Street. The vehicle was struck by a Northbound Union Pacific train.

Janssen, 45 of Colo, was transported by Gowrie EMS to Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge. Mary Harrison, 62 of Colo, was transported by Life Flight to Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines.
According to the report, the accident remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol. Gowrie Fire and EMS, Gowrie Police Department, and Webster County Sheriff’s Office assisted on scene. The vehicle was towed by Mid Iowa Towing.
According to US DOT Information, the crossing has crossbucks and stop signs only. The only other collision recorded at that intersection was in 1976. That vehicle was also Eastbound on Lincoln Street, and resulted in one injury.
