The Fort Dodge City Council will consider placing liens on various properties across Fort Dodge for overdue utility bills at the regularly scheduled meeting Monday. This is a fairly regular action taken by the Council to collect on accounts that have defaulted. Although a routine measure, there a couple liens of interest.
Notable liens include over $30,000 for 324 Kenyon Road, known as Countryside Inn, and over $12,500 for 904 Central Avenue, Trolley Center.
This item comes just one month after the Council voted to raise the water connection and deposit fees in response to outstanding utility bill balances. That action was deemed necessary in part due to individuals that may stop paying their utility bills just prior to leaving their dwelling, leaving a 2 to 3 month balance unpaid.
Other items include purchases for the care of and removal of trees at Memorial Park and North Lawn cemeteries
