Fort Dodge Fire responded to a car fire early this morning, but not your usual automobile.

Fort Dodge Webster County Scanner reported early this morning that fire crews responded to a mobile speed enforcement vehicle in the 1800 block of North 32st Street, just North of the Rosedale Rapids area. That location is consistent with the current speed camera cars deployed by the Fort Dodge Police Department reported on Fort Dodge Automated Enforcement website.
This mobile speed enforcement vehicle fire would be the second time one of Fort Dodge Police Department’s mobile speed cameras fleet vehicles succumb to fire related damage. The last fire was November 28th 2015, about a week shy of being 10 years to date. That fire was determined to be suspicious in nature, and was investigated as an act of arson.
