Badger City Council to Revisit Fireworks Ordinance

The City of Badger City Council will meet Monday for a scheduled meeting. Item C on the Regular Agenda is entitled Ordinance “25-337-Amending Fireworks chapter”.

Badger is one of the communities in Webster County that restricted fireworks usage beyond what was outlined in the State Law. Under the current ordinance, general fireworks usage in Badger is prohibited, unless explicitly authorized by the City.

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds recently signed new legislation in Iowa that prohibits Cities and Counties from restricting fireworks usage on July 3rd, July 4th, and December 31st. One those particular days, local municipalities would be required to follow the state law, which could allow fireworks usage to begin as early as 9:00 AM. The new legislation has prompted communities all across Iowa to revisit their fireworks ordinances.

The Badger City Council Meeting will be held on Monday, June 2nd at 6:30 PM at the Badger City Hall, located at 120 1st Avenue Southeast.
