e Iowa National Guard will hold 24 community-based send-off ceremonies across the state from May 28–30, 2025, in honor of approximately 1,800 Iowa soldiers deploying to the Middle East in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. Operation Inherent Resolve is the United States military’s operational name for the international war against the Islamic State
Locally, about 81 troops will be deploying from Headquarters and Headquarters Battery (HHB) 1-194th Field Artillery Battalion.
These ceremonies will provide an opportunity for Iowans to recognize and show their support for these service members and their families. The public and media are encouraged to attend and help celebrate the bravery and commitment of these men and women from communities across Iowa.
The Fort Dodge Ceremony will take place Thursday, May 29 at 1:00 PM. The location of the ceremony will be at the Fort Dodge Armory at 1659 Nelson Avenue.
