The Webster County Board of Supervisors kicked off their first meeting of the New Year this morning. All Supervisors were present for the first meeting.
This meeting served as a reorganization meeting for the Board. Shaunna Abrams, County Auditor, started off the meeting seeking nominations for both the Chair and Vice-Chair positions. This was her first meeting as County Auditor after winning the position at the last General Election, which was vacated by the retirement of Doreen Pliner.
Austin Hayek nominated Niki Conard for the position of Chair, with Bob Thode seconding. Conrad was elected to the position with a 4 to 1 vote, with Cochrane voting Nay. Niki Conrad nominated Austin Hayek as Vice-Char, with Nick Montgomery seconding. The nomination was carried unanimously.
The Board of Health recommendations for appointment were tabled by the County at the meeting. Supervisor Thode made the motion to table the recommendations for appointments, citing some outstanding questions on some of the appointments. County Attorney Driscoll commented there were some questions of residency requirements for Board members, as well as making sure the County is utilizing a uniform process that has been in place for a few years. The motion to table was unanimously approved.
All other appointments were routine, including Ryan Kehm for Drainage Attorney, Andy Stanberg for Weed Commissioner, and Jeffrey Johnson as Planning and Zoning Administrator. A list of appointments for 2025 Committee and Board Assignments was also approved, which is noted to be on file at the County Auditor’s Office.
