The City of Fort Dodge recently distributed their meeting packet information for the upcoming council meeting. Contained in that packet is a resolution to purchase land for the purpose of a second fire station on Fort Dodge’s West side. The negotiated price for the tract of land is $85,000. Funds for the purchase would come from Webster County Essential EMS levy money. The property sits just West of A Street West, near Avenue D – right adjacent to US Highway 169.

Contained within the memo to the council is a rendering of what the front of a future station may look like at that location. The image depicts 3 large overhead doors, which pair up with earlier reports of wanting to position 2 ambulances and 1 fire truck on the West side of town to decrease response times, both on the West side of town and rural areas in Webster County.

The City Council will meet Monday, March 23rd in Council Chambers at Municipal Building.
