The Fort Dodge Plan and Zoning Commission is scheduled to meet April 8th. On the agenda are plans that would facilitate expansion at District 29, the apartment and townhome community just Southwest of the Middle School.
The location for the expansion would be just South of the existing District 29 community. This community was developed by Talon Development and Eagle Construction out of South Dakota.
The agenda contains both a rezoning request and plat approval.
If the plans move forward, 99 additional units could be constructed – nine 6-unit townhouse buildings, and nine 5-unit townhouse buildings.
Currently, the land just South of the existing property is zoned Agricultural. The request is to rezone to Residential Multi-Family to facilitate the project. According to the memo, staff recommends the rezoning approval. At the time of the memo, no public input had been received in writing.
If everything comes together, the project would tentatively begin this fall, and wrap up by spring of 2027.
