A new housing project could line 3rd Avenue Northwest, according to tentative plans revealed in the latest Planning and Zoning Commission agenda. The location up for consideration would span the South side of the road, laid out between 5th Street Northwest and 9th Street Northwest.

The Fort Dodge Planning and Zoning Commission is scheduled to meet Tuesday, December 17th. On the agenda for consideration is a request to rezone City owned property from Office Commercial and Residential Single Family to Multi-Family Residential.

According to the memo to the P & Z Commission, the request comes from Hoppe Development, and is in conjunction with their proposed multi-family housing development. The proposal outlines 90 units in total, amongst four structures. It is noted that the plan is purely conceptual, and the City intended to rezone the area regardless of the proposal.

Staff comments approval of the rezoning request, subject to public comment. At the time the memo was compiled for the Commission, there was no written comment from the public submitted.
