Supervisors approve rail planning and design agreement at industrial park

The Webster County Board of Supervisors have approved an agreement with McClure Engineering Company for rail planning and design services at the industrial park, formally known as Crossroads of Global Innovation.

Derick Anderson, with McClure Engineering, presented to the Board that this was the next phase of the rail project at the industrial park, and it was incepted years ago to allow continued growth at the industrial park. This project would provide dual rail access to both Union Pacific and Canadian National Railroads.

Anderson went on to say “There is current economic development activity”, and they need to have plans in place to help secure future projects. He advised if those economic development projects do move forward, the next phase would be construction of the rail project.

The agreement was unanimously passed by the Board to begin the planning and designing of a two part rail connection
