The City of Fort Dodge recently acquired another downtown Central Avenue property.

The property located at 1107 Central Avenue was recently acquired in District Court under Iowa’s abandoned or unsafe buildings law.
According to the judgement and decree, there were no utilities being provided to the building and was unfit for human habitation. The judgement noted ‘… there has been no good-faith effort… to restore the property to productive use by any individuals who may claim an interest in the property.”
According to the court docket, it did not appear any party resisted the City’s motion to acquire the property.
According to Fort Dodge City Manager David Fierke, the plan for this building will be demolished to make way for future redevelopment. City staff’s vision for the site is mixed used development, such as 1st floor commercial with upper floors being residential.
