This City of Vincent recently received a Notice of Violation from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources in regards to required water testing issues.

According to the Notice of Violation, the DNR became aware of a lapse in testing for a time period from January 4 through January 11, 2026, a violation of it’s Water Supply Operations Permit. According to the permit, water monitoring of free and total chlorine residuals is required. The permit also requires daily chlorine quantity used to be recorded.
The letter to the City states a total of 50 measurements and recordings were not conducted over the 8-day period, nor were routine observations and verifications of the water plant conducted as part of the visits and testing.
“These requirements are in place to protect and enhance the public health, safety, and quality of life for all persons by ensuring public drinking water is safe to drink. Action must be taken by the City of Vincent to ensure that all permit monitoring is being conducted as required.”
The City is to submit a written statement to the Department, detailing what corrective actions the City has taken to prevent the violations and failure to monitor the supply.
