The Fort Dodge City Council is slated to confirm Hannah Angstrom, Assistant Director of Recreation Services, and the new leader of the Department.

Current Director Lori Branderhorst will be retiring from her current position. A retirement proclamation for Branderhorst at the meeting.
According to a memo from City Manager David Fierke to the Council, “Angstrom has demonstrated outstanding leadership, professionalism, and commitment to public service throughout her eleven-year career with the City of Fort Dodge. During her tenure, she has developed extensive knowledge of department operations, budgeting, facility management, capital improvement planning, staff development, and community engagement.”
Fierke went on to say “As Assistant Recreation Services Director, Ms. Angstrom has helped oversee annual departmental budgets, coordinated capital improvement projects, supervised full-time staff across multiple divisions, and strengthened relationships with community organizations, schools, businesses, and athletic associations. She has also played a key role in implementing operational improvements, software modernization efforts, and process enhancements that have increased efficiency and service delivery.”
According to the Fort Dodge City Charter, it is the City Manager’s duties to appoint department heads, subject to Council approval. If confirmed, the appointment will go into effect on July 1, 2026. The Council meeting will be Monday, June 22nd at 6:00 PM in the Council Chambers at the Municipal Building.
