Fritz Stumping Write-in Mayoral Campaign

A familiar name in the Fort Dodge political scene in running a write-in campaign for the Fort Dodge Mayoral race. Former City Councilman Andy Fritz is asking voters to write in his name for the November 4th General Election.

Fritz has been running a mostly social media campaign. According to a social media post, he made the decision after the deadline to appear on the ballot. He is challenging David Flattery, the lone name that will appear on the ballot for Mayor.

Fritz is no stranger to City government. He last appeared on the City Council in 2022. Fritz was appointed to a vacant position left by Neven Conrad after he was appointed magistrate of Humboldt County. That term had about a year left. A successful petition was filed to place the remaining term up for vote. Fritz did not seek election for the remainder of that term. Megan Secor was declared the winner of that race.

Prior to that, Fritz served on the Council for 8 years, from 2010 to 2017. He did seek reelection to the at-large seat in 2017, but was beat out by Lydia Schuur’s campaign.

In 2019, Fritz was elected to the Ward 2 seat for a two year term.
