A Fort Dodge Community School District educator will not return to the classroom but remain on paid administrative leave through the remainder of the school year after a separation agreement was reached.

Deidra Miller-Clay, a Fort Dodge Senior High art instructor, reportedly posted on her social media “Karma did her thing” on September 10th, 2025. Charlie Kirk, a nationally recognized political commentator was also fatally shot on that day. A screenshot of the post claiming to be from Miller-Clay’s Facebook was widely shared that evening. The screenshot showed a ‘friends only’ privacy setting, indicating the content would have only been available or displayed to friends, and not the general public.
Shortly thereafter, Miller-Clay was placed on an administrative leave. Miller-Clay taught art and was an assistant drama director at Fort Dodge Senior High School. Some of her courses included Art Appreciation, Art Studio, Drawing, Painting, and Sculpture.

Aside from her work at the school, Miller-Clay is a known pillar of the local art community. She was involved in many projects in town, including large scale murals at Blanden Art Education Center and Matt Cosgrove Rivers Edge Discovery Center. Miller-Clay also taught many classes and workshops.
According to the agreement, compensation and insurance will remain until the end of contract – June 1st 2026 – or until such time another position is accepted.
