Matthew Groat has been arrested and is facing multiple United States District Court federal drug charges.

A Northern District of Iowa grand jury returned an indictment against Groat. The indictment contains 1 count of conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance, 5 counts of distribution of a controlled substance, and 1 count of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance.
According to the indictment, between August 2025 and continuing to November 2025, Groat, also known as “Fat Matt”, conspired to distribute and distributed substances containing detectable amounts of methamphetamine, as well substances containing a detectable amount of cocaine.
Groat was arrested by the Webster County Sheriff’s Office in Fort Dodge and turned over to US Marshals. He remains held at the Woodbury County Jail in Sioux City.
